Winners of the European band contest - La Roche Bluegrass Festival 2018

Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Workshop

The return of jam sessions and festivals is just over the horizon... but many of us might be feeling a bit rusty! Award-winning UK bluegrass band The Often Herd are hosting a Zoom workshop for guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bass. This will be broken into two sections, each an hour and a half long. The first half will be split into two zoom "rooms" (fiddle/mandolin and guitar/bass) focussing on techniques specific to those instruments and the harmonic and rhythmic relationships between them. We will learn the melody and chords of a popular bluegrass tune/song in these "rooms" before coming together as a full ensemble during the second half of the workshop, contextualising the role of each instrument in the bluegrass band sound.

The Often Herd will also be talking about their experiences writing, rehearsing, arranging and performing original music.

Tickets are £12 per household, however if more than one person is attending and you feel generous feel free to buy more than one ticket!

In order to get the most out of the workshop, you will require the following:
- Access to the internet, (preferably a strong/stable connection)
- A Zoom account
- A working email address
- A method of communicating with the band during the workshops (webcam/microphone or keyboard)
- Speakers/headphones so you can hear us.

Upon purchasing your ticket you will receive a automatic payment receipt via email. We will take a record of your email used, this will be the email we send the workshop and concert links to in due course. If you wish to use a different email address or have any issues or queries please contact us at
If you have not received the workshop and concert links a week before the event, please contact us.
